Thankful Tree

IMG_0796

A fun way to display all the things we are thankful for at this festive time of year!

Materials Needed:

  • Brown paper lunch bag
  • Constuction paper(cut out leaves)
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Markers

First you cut strips in the paper bag, starting from the opening about 3/4 down the bag. This is something young children enjoy doing as well if you mark the lines with pencil.

Open the bag and twist just under the cuts. This was a little difficult and the kids needed my help.

Grab several strips and twist together to form branches. Continue twisting until no strips are left.

Finally we discussed all things we are thankful for and I helped them write them down on the leaves. Some children were eager to just color a few of their thoughts and that looked cute as well. We used Fall colors orange, yellow, brown.

You can also add some rocks or sand on the bottom to give more stability.

Enjoy!
